Picture this: It’s 2 days before your big event, you have exfoliated, shaved, and are ready for your Air-Tan. You pull into the parking lot and it starts raining. Not just sprinkling, POURING. You run inside wearing your “spray tan dress,” and sandals while forgetting your umbrella in the car. No big deal right? WRONG. After getting an Air-Tan, waiting 6-8 hours before you get wet is crucial. One tiny rain drop actually stains your tan until it fades. It will not “wash off” after 8 hours when you do get in the shower. Trust me; you don’t want polka dot skin from rain drops for a week.
Tip #1: Check the weather. If it’s raining or it’s supposed to rain, think about rescheduling your Air-Tan appointment. We are very understanding of cancellations because of rain, even if it’s last minute.
Tip #2: Wear long sleeves, pants, a rain jacket, and rain boots. Loose fitting dark clothing is best. So consider sweat pants and a long sleeved t-shirt or sweatshirt when coming in to tan. Ditch the sandals if it’s raining. Flip flops can tend to fling water while running and the last thing you need is dots on the back of your legs.
Tip #3: Bring an umbrella! If you forgot yours, don’t be afraid to ask one of our technicians to run you out to your car with our umbrella even if it’s just sprinkling. Believe me, we get it and have been there.
Hanging out in our lobby until the rain lets up is always a smart idea too. The last thing we want you to do is get a perfect tan, run outside quickly and ruin it. It is almost impossible to fix a tan if you’ve gotten wet right after. Do yourself a favor and follow all 3 tips above before getting an Air-Tan on a rainy day.
