Did you just recently spend too much time in the sun? During the summer months, most of us commit the cardinal sin of dermatology and burn our skin during that first perfect sunny day. While getting an Air-Tan is a great alternative for a natural looking tan before you burn, it cannot protect your skin from the sun. Sunscreen is definitely needed if you are going to spend a lot of time outside. It is also not a good idea to get an Air-Tan after you’ve gotten burnt. Because our solution is sprayed directly on top of the first layer of skin, once you’ve begun to peel from sunburn, the Air-Tan will drastically peel off with your skin making it look blotchy and uneven. We recommend completely exfoliating your skin after you’ve started to peel before coming to get a tan. Because this can be painful if you’re burnt, we advise waiting a couple weeks before coming in. That way, you can naturally exfoliate without scrubbing.
Another common request we are asked is if we can even out tan lines. Depending on how dark of a tan line it is, we can try to blend in as best we can. However, when your Air-Tan starts to fade, your tan lines will be more noticeable. The solution to both of these problems is to get your Air-Tan before you spend time in the sun and wear SPF higher than 35 throughout the day.
