In Indiana May is race month! We can now see the Welcome Race Fans signs all over town. In addition, May being race month is also skin cancer awareness month. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S. and is also one of the most preventable cancers. I know everyone loves having a tan and if you’re anything like me you feel better with a bit of color. Just make sure you aren’t hurting yourself for it.
A few things to keep in mind while out in the sun is to make sure you are consistently applying sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher every day. You should actually apply your SPF thirty minutes prior to being out in the sun. Don’t forget to reapply every two hours throughout the day or immediately after getting wet or sweating! No one likes dealing with a sun burn and peeling. Between 10 am and 4 pm the sun is the strongest so seek shade especially during those times. Make sure you are examining your skin every month to check for any changes to your skin, moles, etc. You should also have a professional skin exam each year.
The most obvious way to help prevent skin cancer is avoiding the sun and especially tanning beds. Instead get your tan safely with Air-Tan! Plus it only takes 15 minutes to get the amount of color you want! May is a busy month for us so please schedule your appointment when you can!
If you have any other questions about the scrub or want to schedule your next Air-Tan, give us a call at any of the salons!
