The holiday season is almost here and if you’re anything like me, you’re itching for the day after Thanksgiving when it’s finally acceptable to pull out all of your Christmas decorations. I actually already gave in and have had mine up for over a week now! This is my favorite time of the year and nothing gets me in the spirit more than seeing all of the holiday lights and decorations everywhere – especially in my own home!
Here are a couple of my favorite DIY decorations that are super easy for anyone to do!
DIY Ornament Wreath
Wreaths are everywhere this time of year and I love putting this on my front door. It’s so much more fun and colorful! All you need for this is a styrofoam ring, a glue gun, and whatever ornaments you like best! (The dollar store actually has some really good AND cheap ball ornaments to choose from!) Check out the full tutorial here.
DIY Pinecone Garland
I hang this pinecone garland on my tree because I have a fake tree, but you can use it anywhere! All you need is some yarn, a bag of pinecones and some white paint. This is a super easy and inexpensive project that will really make your house feel ready for the holidays. See the full tutorial here.
DIY Cinnamon Candle Holders
I have candles burning in my house all year long, but I usually go a little candle crazy around the fall and winter. This is a pretty quick and easy project you can do and you can really keep these around all winter! Nothing makes a space cozier than a good smelling candle when it’s cold outside. (I like to use pine scented candles so that my apartment sort of smells like I have a real tree) Visit this site for the full tutorial.
DIY Tree Skirt
This is a fun project if you really enjoy DIYing. This is a little more time consuming than some of the other projects I’ve mentioned, but it’s VERY easy (there is NO sewing involved) and the materials are pretty inexpensive. You can also customize the size and color of this. My tree is pretty skinny so I made mine with less layers and I used all brown burlap. (I’ve seen it done with burlap and white fabric and that’s really pretty, too!) Check out the tutorial here and check out this post to learn how to cut burlap so that it won’t unravel!
DIY Window Decorations
This is probably the easiest project you can do and it really makes a big impact! It’s great for smaller space where you don’t have any extra room to put decorations, but it still looks really festive! Again – Check out the dollar store for some great inexpensive ornaments and just tie them to some ribbon!
