Airbrush makeup. When I see of those words, I think of special occasion makeup that I would get done by a professional. But airbrush makeup doesn’t have to be only for the big moments in your life, and Luminess has made it accessible to the everyday makeup lover.
I am definitely a makeup enthusiast, so I’m excited to share a makeup review and my experience with Luminess Air! The Luminess Air is the smallest airbrush system that you can find, but that doesn’t take away from it’s ability to provide great coverage and flawless results. It is great if you don’t have a lot of space for applying makeup, like myself.
The foundation comes in several different finishes, but I chose the Silk formula for the lightweight, sheer-to-medium coverage. The first time I used the system, I thought “is this thing even putting anything on my face?” because I could barely feel it. But after a couple of passes over my skin, I was amazed how even and glowing my complexion looked! Their foundations are paraben-free, fragrance-free, and oil-free, as well as noncomedogenic, which is great for all skin types!
You can see how small the airbrush system is! I can easily make a little space on my makeup table. To use, you just pick out your shade. For me, shade 3 was perfect. You shake the product for a few seconds due to natural separation of the product. Then, turn on your machine and apply a few drops into the stylus. I use about 6-7 drops for a medium coverage, but definitely start out with less drops because you can always add more.
I used the three products above. First, I used the Moisturizer/Primer. Next I applied the Silk Foundation. And last, I added a little Soft Rose Blush for a little color on the cheeks. It is so easy to apply! I was really nervous about getting that dreaded cakey look the first time I used it. The key to avoiding that is to keep to stylus from getting too close to your face. They recommend 4 finger widths away. You also want to let each layer dry before adding the next one, but that’s easy since they dry pretty quickly.
You can see in the photo above how far I’m holding the stylus from my face. It will feel very light as it’s going onto the skin. If you want a heavier application, you can layer it.
And finally, you can see my results. I have a fairly uneven skin tone and a red birthmark on my chin. To create a more even look, I generally would use a primer, color correcting concealer, liquid foundation, and regular concealer. The Luminess Air has actually cut down on the number of products I put on my face! When using it, I just use their primer, foundation, and a setting powder if I want a more matte look (they do have a matte foundation that I want to try as well!).
The first photo is my bare face, with just eye makeup. Note the birthmark on my chin and the overall redness of my face. The second photo is after the primer and a light-medium application of the Silk Foundation. It looks so natural and just like my skin, but better! In the last photo, I added a light application of blush, plus a setting powder and lipstick.
I love that their website has so many helpful resources. They also have an app for your photo that is full of tutorials and videos that you can follow along to.
