NBC News published an article in response to photographer Thomas Leveritt’s YouTube video, “How the Sun Sees You.” Leveritt was using a UV setting on his camera to test out inexpensive sunglasses to see how much protection they really provided. He is a self-proclaimed proponent of cameras and technology, not sunscreen, but after seeing what people’s faces looked like through the UV lens and seeing their reactions, he wanted to make a montage video to show everyone what he saw.
When he turns on the UV setting, everyone’s sun damage, which is often not visible yet on the outside of their skin, becomes clearly visible. The coolest part for me was seeing people then put sunscreen on their face. The suncreen shows up jet black through the UV lens, showing how much it really does protect your skin. Interestingly, regular eyeglasses do the same! The video has over 13,000,0000 views! Watch for yourself and remember to always use sunscreen, even in the cooler fall/winter months.
