Our featured retail product for this month is our Tan Perfect Pen. This is our newest product as we began carrying it about a year and a half ago. It is one of my favorite products – although who am I kidding?! I truly love and use every one of our products. I love the pen, though, because it can pen in lines and spots that our airbrush gun cannot. I used it on my wedding day and it worked absolutely perfectly.
Oftentimes, clients ask if we can make their tanlines disappear. While we can significantly reduce the visibility of tanlines, we cannot make them 100% disappear. Why is this? It is because our airbrush guns spray such a broad area (which allows for speedy appointments and no drying time), that we can’t fill in a tiny little area like a bikini string tan line. Yes, it can spray the line or the dot, but it will also spray the entire area around it, so the spot or tanline will still end up lighter just because it was already lighter in color to begin with.
The Tan Perfect Pen is perfect for tanlines on the neck from your swimsuit or tank top, tanlines from your bottoms (since we require all clients to wear bottoms), or filling in a light spot caused by a drop of water dropping onto your skin within the first 8 hours of getting tan. Since you are not supposed to shower, sweat or get wet within the first 8 hours, even a tiny water drop from rain, snow, or your kids splashing around in the bathtub will create an uneven spotty tan in the affected area. I recommend the Tan Perfect Pen for moms, brides, vacations, those in the beginning stages of vitiligo, and boudoir shoots!
How to Use the Tan Perfect Pen:
- Fill in spot or line with 1-3 coats. Do not pen in the area surrounding the line or the dot – just the dot or line itself.
- Do not try to match the line or dot to the tan around it initially. All you see at first is a bit of bronzer to help you see where you have penned already. The tanning product will develop over the next 8-24 hours and dark up significantly. If you pen in so much to match the line or dot from the get-go, the line or dot will actually end up much darker than the area around it once it has finished developing.
- Leave on for 8-24 hours without putting anything snug on it, sweating or getting wet. Ex: Once you pen in your bra tanline, try not to put on a bra that will rub on the area so the color has a chance to develop. After 8-24 hours, rinse off in the shower.
- It is buildable color. If it looks too light after you have penned and washed it off, just add a little bit more to achieve the color you want.
The Tan Perfect Pen is $15 for regular clients and $14 for unlimited members. Stop by and get one at any Air-Tan!
