In my years at Air-Tan at the Broad Ripple location, I have noticed a pattern with a lot of common questions Air-Tanners have.
These are probably in the top 10 of the most frequently asked:
1. Do I have to wait to get dressed?
No, not at all. Isn’t that great?! Although your Air-Tan feels really sticky and tacky, it’s totally fine to put on clothes right away. The reason that you can get dressed immediately is because the part of the Air-Tan solution that gives you the long-lasting color (called DHA) is dried immediately by the air put out by the spray gun. The part of the Air-Tan that may get smudged when you’re putting on your clothes is just the instant bronzer. The bronzer is only there for the instant gratification factor, and also so we can see what we are doing while we apply the tan. The bronzer will wash off of you during your first shower. For best results make sure you are wearing loose fitting clothing and shoes (like flip-flops) at least 2-4 hours after your tan is applied as excessive rubbing can effect the DHA from adhearing to the skin. Your enemies for the first 8 hours after you get your Air-Tan on are rubbing your skin, sweating, or getting wet.
The reason you look so shiny is because there are a lot of aloe and moisturizers in our Air-Tan solution. The solution over-moisturizes you, and your skin can’t soak all of it up right away, so it leaves you with that sticky feeling and shiny glow. The moisturizers are great for your skin, especially during these drier winter months!
3. Where do I put the barrier cream?
There are THREE places to put a thin layer of barrier cream:
- Rough part of your elbows
- Back wrinkly part of your heels
- Any unpainted toe nails
Other salons or especially places that only spray using machines may have you put the cream other places, like knees, all over hands or feet, etc., but there is no need to do that here. Here at Air-Tan there is a person spraying you, and we take extra care to make the tricky spots like hands and feet look even and natural.
If you have any other questions, leave a comment or you can ask us in person at our Broad Ripple or Fishers locations.
