Broad Ripple has it’s fair share of businesses that have been here for years and years. Think Kimmel Shoe Repair, Hardwicke’s Pipe & Tobacco, The Vogue, Union Jack’s, and of course yours truly. Okay so we don’t have as many years as some of those other guys – but we have been a proud resident of Broad Ripple Village for over 9 years now! What amazes me about Broad Ripple, though, is how I can walk around one day and notice multiple new restaurants or businesses.
Some new businesses in Broad Ripple are LAVA, which is a BEAUTIFUL Mediterranean restaurant and hookah bar. It has plush chairs, ottomans, chandeliers, and the best bathrooms in Broad Ripple. I also love that Greek’s is back in an all new location (at the old Dagwood’s off Westfield) also with new ownership. I was thrilled when Kilroy’s opened its doors, I have been dying for some stuffed breadsticks on my lunch break and now I have them available whenever I need them!
I discovered my favorite when I took a walk on Wednesday evening on Westfield Blvd. to head to a new taco joint called La Chinita Poblana. This is in the old Boogie Burger space. WOW! It is so tasty. It’s so tasty I ate there 2 days in a row. Angela, our owner, told me to go eat there and I did that night because she was so intense about her love for their tacos. I’m pretty sure her husband, Duncan, has eaten there almost every single day this week. They have tacos of all sorts – tilapia, crunchy shrimp, skirt steak, chicken, eggplant, and even cow tongue – all for $3. The menu is truly unique. It’s a latin/asian fusion. While they have tacos and churros, they also have things like hot & sour soup and salads with peanut sauce. For beverages, they have Coca Cola products, Jarrito Mexican sodas, bubble teas, and fruit flavored agua. My favorite was the pineapple agua. So refreshing and guilt-free!
It is very casual – standing room only, so keep that in mind when visiting.
