In light of May being Skin Cancer Awareness Month, we wanted to bring you a little more info on exactly what skin cancer is …
Did you know that someone in the US dies of Melanoma every hour?
And worse yet there is not really a cure, so once you have it, it is very difficult to recover from this terrible disease. Also unlike most cancers it does not respond to chemotherapy. Our skin is the largest organ. It is nuts how many of us (me included before I found Air-Tan) are willing to fry it in the sun or a tanning bed.
What can you do to help prevent this from happening to you?
- Use a sun block with a SPF of 30 or higher and re-apply (you can still get color with this)
- Do not tan in a tanning bed!
- Get checked as least once a year by a dermatologist
Skin Cancer does not discriminate. It effects all ages, races, and skin tones. So no one is completely safe, and this is why the word needs to be spread. Most cases of skin cancer could have been prevented.
At Air-Tan we really care about getting the word out and preventing skin cancer. We offer our clients the best of both worlds, as we know you do feel better when you have some color. However with Air-Tan you can do it the safe way, and you do not have to run the risk of getting this disease or even pre-aging your skin.
