Broadripple Workouts You’ll LOVE!
So I know what you are thinking by reading the title of this blog post. Who really loves any workout? I certainly did not love any of mine, until I discovered a few gems here in Broad Ripple. Here are a few of my favorite places to get a great workout in the area.
My third favorite place to get my workout in is on the Monon. Most of us have heard of it, but maybe you haven’t been on it yet. With
endpoints at 10th street downtown and at 161st Street in Westfield, it’s hard to miss! There all all sorts of connections from different trails and there are several stops with bathrooms and water fountains. Visit the Monon’s website to get even more details. Do what you like best – run, walk, bike, rollerblade, skateboard, or my personal favorite – wog (walk/jog) your way to your goal endpoint. As the trail goes through downtown, Broad Ripple, Carmel and Westfield, there’s undoubtedly great stops and lots to look at along the way. The Monon is just one of the many reasons Indianapolis is leading the nation to a greener way as a very bike-friendly city.
My second favorite place to get my workout in is at Studio 49 Fitness. This new gym located at 49th and Pennsylvania offers TRX
suspension training, PowerPlate training, and group classes. Developed by a Marine, TRX suspension training, builds strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability. The best part is, anyone can do it no matter your fitness goal or if you are a man or a woman. With over 30 years of combined experience, Mark and Christy, will get you looking toned and fit in no time! The best part about this gym is that it doesn’t look or smell like one. Also, as of July 1, all packages are transferable and never expire!
My absolute favorite place to get my workout in is just a couple doors down at The Yoga Center of Indiana. I was so skeptical about yoga until a friend urged me to try the “new member” package, which is $27 for 2 weeks of unlimited classes. I was so nervous because I have never been flexible and I didn’t really know what yoga was about. I have never even been able to touch
my toes. The first thing I learned was that you don’t have to be flexible to learn yoga, but your flexibility greatly improves as you keep practicing. The Yoga Center only does “hot yoga” – which helps you actually feel more flexible toward the end of the class as your body warms. Mat and towel rental are waived with your first class, but don’t forget to bring water as it really is HOT yoga! I have tried every kind of workout you can imagine, and hot yoga gets me working just as hard as running miles, yet calms me and puts me in a peaceful frame of mind for my entire day. The best thing about this place is there are two locations (I love them both!) and you can use your package at either one.
What’s your favorite workout?
