    The newest fashion at hair salons around the world are feather hair extensions. Lately, the trend has grown with Steven Tyler’s feather extensions on American Idol. The oftentimes colorful extensions are real 12-14 inch long chicken feathers which you attach to a bead and place around your hair. The extensions can be pricey at salons – around $25 per bead (1 to 3 feathers per bead) + the cost of placing them in your hair, but they can be washed and styled like normal and are reusable.

    Interestingly enough, these feathers actually originated at fly-fishing stores, not at posh hair salons. They are used to attract certain types of fish. The sudden craze over the last several months has created a depletion of these feathers and fly fishers everywhere are running out. Check out this article I found from an Oakland newspaper about the feather craze.

    Want to get your hair feather hair extensions? Better call your salon before they run out of their own supply of feather extensions! Here in Broad Ripple, DL Lowry, Salon 6, and Skinners offer feather hair extensions (rates differ at each salon). Or, do what I did, and order your own supply at etsy.com. I bought 30 feather extensions, picked out every single color myself, and paid a total of $60.

  3. JWoww Getting work done at 24, bad effect of UV Rays ??

    I am a Jersey Shore fanatic.  I watched the reunion show a couple weeks ago, and I couldn’t help but notice that JWoww’s face was looking a little stiff.  Her forehead barely moved at all…and she is only 24 years old!!  That is the same age as me, and I can’t imagine anyone even close to my age getting a face lift or botox.  The more I thought about it, though, I realized why she felt the need to get some work done.  Her constant use of the tanning bed has probably caused premature wrinkles!  All that money for procedures to get rid of wrinkles could have been saved and wrinkles prevented just by hitting up Air-Tan for a UV-free, cancer-free, wrinkle-free tan.

    Finally!  I think these warmer temperatures are here to stay.  Now I can leave the house in short sleeves with no jacket…glorious!  Less clothing means I can show off my fab Air-Tan on the regular, which I am always excited about.   The weather is going to keep getting warmer, and there is no way you’d ever catch me in shorts without my tan on!  If you are like me and love maintaining your tan, Air-Tan has a great deal going on for the month of April.

    Our Unlimited Membership is normally $75 and has a $50 membership fee just to join.  For this month, the $50 membership fee is waived, and it is only $1 for the first month and $75 for each month after.   If you were to come in every week for a month and pay per session, it would cost you $120.  The Unlimited Membership is a huge savings!  Also, as a member, you can come in any time, without an appointment for free touch-ups.  This little perk is especially important since it is the beginning of sandal season, and my feet are one of the first places my tan fades!  Call us at the salon at 317-254-8267 if you have any questions!
