So the love of your life finally popped the question and now it is time to let the fun begin! Yes, fun! Wedding planning CAN be fun if you want it to be. I am recently engaged and I have been planning away. It started off with me wanting to give up the planning and just elope, but once I did a little “wooooo-sahhhhhhh” it actually became fun. Here are a few things I have learned in the process:
- Take advice and opinions with a grain of salt. It is YOUR wedding. Friends and family will be excited for you and will have a lot of opinions because they want to help. Some opinions you may like and some you may not, but all that matters is that the wedding best suits you and your groom!
- Customize the wedding to fit you, not traditions. When I imagine weddings, I think of tons of floral décor, standard colors, and a traditional setting. Don’t be afraid to step outside of the box a little bit. I love the bohemian look, so instead of a floral altar, I am going to hang dreamcatchers. While this may sound weird to some, it is customized the way I like it. You can also find some really good deals if you buy wedding decor as you plan!
- Don’t spend a ton on save-the-dates. I actually was going to spend over $150 because this seemed to be the standard price. However, I knew that the more money that I saved, the more could go into more important things. I found a website called VistaPrint and I was able to order everything for a little under $60! They ended up being great quality and I received them within 4 days of ordering!
