Applying sunscreen is something that is so commonly overlooked, yet so essential to keeping your skin healthy and safe. Sunscreen’s UV-blocking abilities can keep you safe from burns and and skin problems.
Did you know that you can still get a sun burn on a rainy or cloudy day? These days are horrible mood killers, but can also be a day that damages your skin if you do not apply sunscreen. Just because you don’t see the UV rays, does not mean that they aren’t shining down on you. You can even get a sun burn from simply driving your car down the street! All it takes is 15 minutes in the sun to seriously increase your risk for skin damage.
When you see SPF on a label it stands for Sun Protection Factor. The higher the number, the higher the protection. Waterproof suncreens are good if you plan to sweat, swim, or get wet in the sun. These sunscreens can last up to 80 minutes in the sun. Make sure to keep reapplying sunscreen! Most sunscreens do not last hours in the sun, and you can still get a sun burn if you do not keep applying them! Don’t forget to come in and get your Air-Tan before lathering up the sunscreen this summer!
