One of the biggest keys, if not the biggest, to getting the perfect Air-Tan is to exfoliate prior to being sprayed! I absolutely cannot stress this enough, especially if you are coming in week after week. If there is any remainder of your old tan still on, it is going to impact the way your new Air-Tan looks!
It is just like nail polish. If your polish chips, you can give it a touch up, but it definitely won’t look perfectly smooth like it did before – it will do the trick for a day or two. Same thing with a spray tan. If your old spray tan is wearing off and some areas of your body are lighter than others, I can spray over the old leftover tan and for a day or so it will look okay. However, after that first day or two, it will not look good and it will not fade evenly, the way it is supposed to. The color won’t look right. It won’t be even or natural looking – it just won’t be pretty. I know from experience. I’ve done it myself in my early stages of spray tanning – I learned quickly that is exactly what NOT to do.
I know we all like to be tan and we would like to be tan 24/7, but with any kind of spray tan, you have to get your skin all the way back to its original pale state, in order to effectively reapply a new one.
My tanning and scrubbing regimen is:
Friday – Get my Air-Tan on!
Saturday – Enjoy my tan.
Sunday – Enjoy my tan some more.
Monday – Oh you like my spray tan? Sweet! It’s an Air-Tan.
Tuesday – Oh baby! Still lookin’ fresh with my Air-Tan!
Wednesday -Shower normally in AM. Shower and scrub with a washcloth & Air-Tan dermal cleanser (with glycolic acid which makes the whole process easier) before bed. When I dry off, I rub hard and slow with my dry towel, which is a way to sneak in another round of exfoliation. What? I am still tan! How is that even possible? I just SCRUBBED my skin!
Thursday – Shower and scrub with a washcloth & Air-Tan dermal cleanser in the AM. Hmm..Still have a bit of color, but my paleness is starting to show. I’ll use a little Air-Tan Bronzer Brush on the parts that show (face, chest and neck) to get me though the day.
Friday – Same scrubbing regimen, but this time it’s all the way off. Use a little bronzer again because I am BUTT-WHITE today! But it is a good day, because at the end of my day I get to get my Air-Tan on, again! Woo hoo! And the cycle repeats itself. 🙂
**This is MY personal regimen. If you work out a lot or have a hot tub, you can probably start your regimen the day before, but I definitely recommend more than just ONE scrub. Air-Tan is made to be long-lasting and just one measly shower and scrub will not do the trick!
