Now that the cooler weather is officially here to stay, sometimes I feel like my date options are limited because the coldness kind of makes me a hermit. Here are a few ideas to help break up the monotony of the cool and gray days:
- Crock pot meal and Netflix marathon–You can still have a fun
while being hermit-y. Lately, I have been a really big fan of crock pot recipes that I’ve found on Pinterest, and my boyfriend has been loving all the home cooking, too. It’s so nice to come home after a long day of work with a nice, hot meal waiting for me, not to mention that it makes the house smell amazing! So far, our favorites have been chicken and dumplings and chili. Soooo yummy! Accompanying the delicious meal is usually a marathon of a tv series of some sort on Netflix. I’ve been into Grey’s Anatomy and Lost lately. This is the perfect date night for me, especially when it is rainy!
- Tailgating–I love a good excuse to drink during the day, and Colts games provide me with that opportunity nearly every week. I am proud to say that I am not a bandwagoner, and I still support my fave team in the good times and the bad. My favorite thing to contribute to the tailgate is a fantastically delicious fall cocktail I recently discovered. Smirnoff has come out with a new caramel flavored vodka. It’s called Kissed and it is SO. FREAKING. GOOD. Mix in a couple shots with Simply Apple juice, and you’ve got a liquified replica of a caramel apple. There is no vodka burn to this liquor, so it is super smooth and satisfying.
- Visit a pumpkin patch–There are several farms in the greater Indianapolis area to visit. I found one in Avon that looks fun called Beasley’s Orchard and Gardens. They have all kinds of apple varieties and fresh apple cider. Of course, you can pick your own pumpkin, and there is a corn maze. Admission is $8 for people 12 and up, kids are $6, and those 5 and under are free. Sounds like a lovely way to spend a clear and crisp fall day.
Do you have any other suggestions to add to my list?
